Thursday, February 16, 2017A mutual friend from UCC days passed on Ron's obituary to me today. Although we lost touch, Ron and I were close friends in Wedd's house at UCC. We spent many weekends together at my parents' property in Caledon where we roamed the forest with bows and arrows. I developed a great interest in farming so I read with interest about Ron's farming activities. One summer I persuaded Ron to join me working on the Douglas Lake Ranch in BC. We had visions of becoming cowboys. Instead we learned how to harness draft horses at 4 AM and we spent the days slinging hay bales onto wagons and building hay stacks in the middle of the ranch's meadows. My condolences to Ron's family. I remember him with great affection and I am sad that we did not reconnect before he died.

Friday, September 30, 2016My condolences with Ron's passing. He truly was the most outstanding mentor during my Fellowship in Respirology. His humour and wisdom was always appreciated, and its obvious he had such a tremendous impact to everyone he came in touch with. I had the opportunity to speak with him briefly recently and it was so apparent that his intellect and integrity was still so bright despite his failing health. A simple chuckle revived so many memories of times gone by, and it would have been wonderful to have had more opportunities (perhaps sharing a Labatt's 50...) One can only hope to aspire to his ideals and achievements, seemingly effortless but so impactful upon an entire generation of physicians and families.

Sunday, September 25, 2016I was one of Ron's early trainees and he is a major reason I went on to be an academic respirologist It was always clear he loved to teach. He shared his knowledge of medicine, both as a science and as an art. On the weekends he and Barb generously invited Meribeth and I to the farm where we saw his attributes as a loving husband and father. He will be sorely missed in the medical community

Saturday, September 24, 2016Dear Wigle family, My deepest condolences on your loss. I had the great pleasure of working with Ron over ten years during my Internal medicine residency and then as colleagues at KGH. He's one of the ones you never forget - an amazing doctor, teacher, and role model of gentleness, compassion and humor (I always envision him chuckling over a joke or story he had told us). Although I never got to meet all of you, he spoke of you often and was obviously a very proud husband and father. His legacy lives on, through all of us who were lucky enough to have him as a beloved mentor. Thank you for sharing him with us. Sincerely, Fiona Dunne
