Funeral Directors

​JIM REID - Owner
Jim is the fourth generation of the Reid Family. He is a Graduate of Queen’s University and a Licensed Funeral Director. Jim has his OACFP Crematorium Training. Jim and the Funeral Home support about one hundred charities and organizations in Kingston. Jim is currently Honorary Colonel with 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment at Canadian Forces Base Kingston and a Rotarian (Past President, Rotarian of the Year, and Paul Harris Fellow). Over the years he has been active with Kingston Jaycees, Junior Achievement, the Chamber of Commerce, hobby farming, the Masonic Order, St. Peter’s Harrowsmith, Hospice Kingston, Rideaucrest, and the Knightly Order of St. George.

SARAH REID HEDBERG - Assistant Manager

Sarah is of the fifth generation of the James Reid family and is currently learning leadership from her dad, Jim, and staff. Sarah holds a Master of Arts in English from U of T and taught at Community Colleges in Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston and Portland, Maine before returning to Kingston in 2012. She draws on her Bachelor of Social Work from McGill to lead the Bereavement Support Program at James Reid's. Sarah and her husband and children enjoy boating, extended family, and getting involved at their church and school. 

DENNIS EDWARDS was born and raised in the Upper Ottawa Valley on a farm just outside of Pembroke, Ontario. Dennis earned his Funeral Director’s Licence from Humber College in Toronto in 1982. Dennis has been providing meaningful funerals for the families he has served at the James Reid Funeral Home since 1985. Dennis has attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. Dennis enjoys the outdoors, music, cooking and travel.

DOROTHY "DODI" TRIMBLE-HAYES (Assistant Manager) was born and raised in Toronto and became a licensed funeral director in 1997. Dodi has worked at the James Reid Funeral Home since September 1997. In 2014 she attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. She is very involved with the Parent Council at the school where her children attend.

DAVID HOPPER was born and raised in Scarborough and has been a licensed funeral director since 1981. David has been with the James Reid Funeral Home since 2006. In 2014 he attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, golf, and enjoys many outdoor activities.

MAC FERRIS was born and raised in Owen Sound and became a licensed funeral director in 2017. After working in business marketing and advertising, Mac attended Humber College, training in busy family-run funeral homes in Toronto and Kitchener. Mac is enjoying his new home of Kingston. 

NATASHA PROVOST (in english) was born and raised in the Ottawa area, completing secondary schooling in Orleans, the East End of the city. Natasha earned her Funeral Director’s Education from Boreal College in Sudbury in 2016, becoming a licenced Funeral Director and Embalmer in the same year. She has worked in Ottawa and Gatineau as a Funeral Director. In her free time, Natasha enjoys travelling to new places, music, baking and movies.

NATASHA PROVOST (en français) est née et a grandi dans la région d’Ottawa. EIle a terminé ses études secondaires à Orléans, dans l’Est de la ville. Natasha a obtenu son diplôme en services funéraires au collège Boreal à Sudbury en 2016. Elle est devenue Thanatologue licenciée la même année. Elle travaillait comme Directrice funéraire à Ottawa et Gatineau. Les passe-temps de Natasha inclus voyagée à des nouveaux endroits, écouter de la musique, cuisiner et regarder des films.

HAYLEY LEPAGE was born in Belleville, lived in Trenton, then Hamilton, before making Kingston her home. She has been in the funeral industry for three years now, attending Humber College in 2019 and receiving her license during the Covid-19 pandemic. Hayley is embracing her new life and career. In her spare time Hayley likes to bike, horseback ride, read books and spend time with her family.

KENDRA-LYNN PAGE was born in Kingston. She is currently in the intern phase of her schooling to become a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Humber College. Her goal is to be able to provide families with knowledgeable and compassionate service. She attended Holy Cross Secondary School and was the Co-Chair to the C.I.C.S Executive team. They lead charity events and mission trips for the school and public. With C.I.C.S., Kendra traveled to Kingston Jamaica to donate supplies and assist in a housebuild for a family. 


HEATHER JACKSON - Advanced Planning Director

Heather has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1990. She has a vast array of experience in funeral services ranging from At Need Director to Advanced Planning Director in both Toronto and Kingston. Heather has been in her present capacity as Advanced Planning Funeral Director since 2005 at the James Reid Funeral Home. Her compassion for the local community has been demonstrated throughout the years by her volunteerism for various charitable organizations including The Salvation Army

JENNIFER MORGAN was born and raised in Kingston. She attended St. Lawrence College, earning a diploma in accounting. She used that knowledge to work in insurance for many years before deciding to pursue her Funeral Director’s License in 2016. She graduated from Humber College and became licensed in 2018. Jennifer joined the James Reid team as the Extended Care Director in 2020. In her free time, she likes spending time with her husband and three children, quilting and baking. She also volunteers for United Parents, a group that helps families with children with exceptionalities.

Bereavement Support


Therese has worked in many fields including church ministry, business, palliative care and bereavement. Therese has been volunteering since the age of 6. She finds time to crochet and loves spending time with her dog. She and her husband have 4 wonderful children and enjoy precious time with their 5 grandchildren. 

NANCY HANCOCK, M.Div. (Tyndale Theological Seminary), is an ordained minister who worked as a hospital and community chaplain for 20 years, 15 of those in Kingston.  Nancy enjoys singing in choirs, is active in her church, and is a proud mother of four and grandmother of two.
