Jay W. L. Lockerbie

Peacefully at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, on Friday April 16th, 2021, Jay Lockerbie, in his 91st year, loving husband to his dear wife Marjorie, father of daughter Jo-Ann (Jack), who pre-deceased him in 2015, and of son Brett (Laurie). He was special Poppa to grand-daughters Chantal and Jenna (Matt Irvine), grand-sons Jason, Jordan and Joel, and dear Uncle Jay to cousins Cheryl Dillon (Jeff), Rob Seeley (Patty), Kim Wijsman (Fred) and Ritch Seeley (Liz). Jay was born May 18, 1930 and was very close with his cousin Clair Seeley who is survived by his wife Esther. The two ‘brothers’ grew up together in Brockville, Ontario in the home of Percy and Jennie Lockerbie. Jay graduated from Queen’s University in 1953 with a B.A./B.P.H.E and became a renowned Educator for 33 years whose career included being a Teacher, Vice-Principal, founding Principal of LaSalle Secondary School in Kingston, Supervisory Roles with the Ministry of Education, and then retiring in 1988 as a Superintendent with the Frontenac County Board of Education. He played the saxophone in the former Big Bands such as Paul Chabot. Jay golfed and curled at Cataraqui Golf Club and is a recent honorary member there. The family is grateful for the compassionate care that Jay received while on Connell and Davies at KHSC, Providence Care Hospital and the LHIN who attended at Kingsdale Chateau. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Gallupe and Chrystal over the years.

For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston, or the University Hospital's Kingston Foundation (UHKF) Rose of Hope Cancer Campaign in Jay’s memory would be thoughtfully appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.jamesreidfuneralhome.com
