Peacefully, with his family by his side, Donald Albert Currie passed away on December 6 2021,

at the Kingston General Hospital.

Don was born on April 3, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, to Robert and Myrtle Currie(nee Turner). Don was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Margaret(Peggy) and Robert(Bob) Currie, and his brother-in-law Gordon Smith.

Don was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Currie(nee Smith), his children Allyson Sills and David Currie, grandchildren Jeffrey Sills and Jennifer Laprade(Chris), great granddaughter Thea Rose Laprade, and brother-in-law John Robertson.

As a young child, Don moved from Detroit to Cornwall, ON. When Don was a teen, the family moved to Kingston, ON. As a young man, Don joined the St. George’s Cathedral Choir. Being a member of the choir and playing the piano was a most enjoyable part of his life. After Don became a teacher, he continued to share his love for music with his students through numerous choirs and musicals.

Don lived a very full and happy life. He gave tirelessly to his family, his profession, students and community.

A celebration of life is being planned for a future date in the new year. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Kingston Food Sharing Project and the Frontenac County Schools Museum would be appreciated by the family.
