Obituary of Betty Seymour
Betty Seymour (née Bonfield) passed away peacefully, holding her daughter's hand at Providence Care's Palliative Care Unit in Kingston Ontario, surrounded by the love and support of her family and many friends. Cherished wife of the late Lewis Gordon Seymour. Beloved mother of Carol (Anne) and son-in-law Claude Brulé of Ottawa, Ontario and adored/adoring Grandmother of Véronique Brulé (Nicolas) of Montréal, Québec. Betty was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Margaret Bonfield and her siblings Lily, John and Nancy of Hertfordshire, England. Betty immigrated to Canada from England with her husband Lew in 1951 and they enjoyed many happy years together in their home in Portsmouth Village in Kingston. Betty loved baking, knitting, shopping and spoiling all the many birds and four-legged friends in her Portsmouth neighbourhood. Her greatest love was for her family, especially the special bond she shared with her only grandchild Véronique who she called her 'Bubby'. Betty will be sadly missed by her immediate family, her extended family in England and her many friends including her special companions Suzanne, Renée, Kellie, Wilma and Chris. The family would like to thank the staff of the Rosewood Retirement Residence for the compassionate care provided to Betty during the very happy year that she spent there prior to her recent hospitalization. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Providence Care's PCU for their exceptional care of our mom during her end-of-life journey. Special thanks to palliative care nurse Deana, a true 'earth angel'. In keeping with Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service at the Cataraqui Cemetery followed by a celebration of Betty's life will take place in the spring (Betty's favourite time of year). In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Kingston Humane Society.
