Obituary of Evan Lloyd
LLOYD, Evan Richard Roy
With deep sadness, the family would like to announce the passing of Evan Richard Roy Lloyd at the Rosewood Retirement Residence after fearlessly battling colon cancer for a number of years. Predeceased by the love of his life Georgina Patricia Lloyd (nee Gray) in 1998, Evan is leaving behind a large and very loving extended family, notably his sons Christopher and Rhys and Chris's wife Susan and his two sons Owen (15) and Graeme (13) and Rhys's wife Carrie and their three children Grayden (9), and beautiful 3 year-old twins Georgina and Rhys Jr.
Evan was born in 1930 Newboro, Ontario to Lester Lloyd of Gananoque and Mabel Anglin of Pine Grove, and bears the distinction of being the last of a highly respected generation of four Lloyd brothers to pass on before him (Lawrence, Keith and Philip). He is survived today only by his older sister Marion in Calgary. Evan was known as a strong family man and held a special place in the hearts of the Lloyd and Anglin families. He was well known for his remarkable ability to charm all the people whose lives he touched with a ready joke or catch-phrase (or outrageous outfit!), while maintaining a slightly curmudgeonly attitude. The resulting combination was absolute gold to those who knew him.
The toughest day of his life was when he lost his wife Patricia to cancer, but despite that, he filled his remaining years with friendship and hard work. He became fast friends with his nephew Peter Lloyd (the Brother-Uncles) who we would like to thank dearly for his unwavering commitment and efforts to Evan's health in his last 21/2 years when Rhys and Chris could not always be there for him, (not to mention the bond they shared for the last 25-odd years as good friends). He passed peacefully at the Rosewood Retirement Residence and the wonderful care of the staff there eased his journey to finally be with Patricia again. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Rosewood for their incredibly passionate and thoughtful commitment to Evan's comfort in the last 2 ½ years. We cannot thank them enough. Thank you to Dr. Carol White for managing his palliative care so that he could pass comfortably. We would like to thank all the people who touched Evan's life along the way and any donations should be forwarded to the Cancer Society on Evan's behalf. We will not be conducting any memorial services at this time as the family prefers to gather together privately with close friends to celebrate the strength of life that Evan always displayed. We will memorialize him in the new year at an appropriate time, and he will be interred at the Cataraqui Cemetery to join Patricia and others in his family.
